Ornamental Kale Nagoya Red brings rich color and dramatic texture to cool-season gardens and fall displays. Grown in our Woburn Greenhouses, it forms dense rosettes with deeply fringed green leaves surrounding burgundy-purple centers. The vibrant color becomes even more intense when temperatures fall below 60°F. Its ruffled foliage provides lasting interest in autumn and early winter landscapes.
Ornamental Kale Nagoya Red grows about 12 inches tall and wide with a compact, mounded shape. It thrives in full sun with regular watering and performs especially well in cooler weather. Plant it in containers, garden beds, borders, or mixed seasonal planters for bold texture and color. The leaves are edible but have a bitter flavor and may be cooked in soups, stews, or other dishes.
