Description
Alteranthera Purple Prince is a bold, heat-loving groundcover grown for its rich purple foliage. In spring, the pointed leaves emerge olive green, then deepen to burgundy with striking purple tones through the season. Alteranthera Purple Prince thrives in full sun, where its color is most vivid, but it will also tolerate part sun. Grown in our Woburn Greenhouses, this low-growing plant is perfect for edging garden beds, filling borders, and adding dramatic color to containers.
With a dense, ground-hugging habit, Alteranthera Purple Prince grows about 14 inches tall and spreads up to 20 inches wide. It performs best in evenly moist, well-drained soil and does not like standing water. Use it in mass plantings, as a colorful groundcover, or as a beautiful “spiller” in mixed pots and hanging baskets. Easy to grow and low maintenance, this plant brings season-long color to garden beds and patio planters.
