Description
Carex stricta, or Tussock Sedge, is a hardy native plant well-suited to Massachusetts’ wetlands and low-lying areas. Forming dense green mounds, it spreads by rhizomes and thrives in moist soil or even standing water. Its brown spring seedheads add subtle texture and visual interest without overwhelming surrounding plants.
A valuable plant for wetland restoration and erosion control, Carex stricta supports soil health and biodiversity. It works well along pond edges, in boggy meadows, and even in intermittent flood zones throughout Massachusetts. Carex stricta also tolerates light shade, making it adaptable for woodland or swampy gardens.
Each plant comes in a #1 (1 gallon) growers container. The image shown represents an example of what you may receive. Please note that the height, shape, and fullness of each plant may vary due to natural growth patterns. Rest assured, we will select the healthiest and most vibrant plant for you.
