Description

Common Paw Paw is a small, spreading tree that thrives in Massachusetts, offering both ornamental beauty and delicious, nutrient-rich fruit. Its oblong green fruit, ripening from mid to late summer, has a creamy white interior with a custard-like texture and a flavor reminiscent of banana and pear. This hardy tree also serves as a host for the zebra swallowtail butterfly, making it a great addition to pollinator-friendly landscapes.

Beyond its edible benefits, Common Paw Paw features nodding purple flowers in spring and lush dark green foliage that turns a striking lemon yellow in fall. The fruit is commonly used for fresh eating, cooking, preserves, and even wine-making. While the dropped fruit can be messy, occasional clean-up is a small price to pay for this unique and rewarding Massachusetts-friendly tree.

Each plant comes in a #3 (3 gallon) growers container. The image shown represents an example of what you may receive. Please note that the height, shape, and fullness of each plant may vary due to natural growth patterns. Rest assured, we will select the healthiest and most vibrant plant for you.
