Directions for Use:
New & Existing garden beds
For new beds, sandy, compacted or clay soil, work in 2″ to 3″ of Organic & Natural Planting Soil for Roses & Flowers into the top 4″ to 6″ of existing soil before planting. To maintain healthy permanent beds, apply a 2″ to 3″ layer of our Organic & Natural Planting Soil every year around your existing roses and flowers. This is best done in the spring before new foliage emerges and in the middle of the growing-season to refresh beds.
When planting roses, dig a hole twice as deep and twice as wide as the root ball. Set the root ball down in the hole and keep the stem the same height as it was in the pot. Back fill with equal parts native soil and our Organic & Natural Planting Soil for Roses & Flowers. Do not pack the soil down around the plant, as this eliminates valuable airspace for the roots. Rather, water the plant in to settle the soil, adding more if needed. Water thoroughly and regularly until the plant has established itself.
Feed on the surface of the soil around the dripline of the plant, twice during the growing season with an organic plant food.
For Moisture Retention, top dress 2″ – 3″ with enriching mulch. Take care not to cover or bury the stems of roses by pulling the compost and mulch away from the stem.
