Description

Red (Hollandia) Scotch Broom (Cytisus x praecox 'Hollandia') is a stunning flowering shrub perfect for tough landscaping conditions, such as dry, infertile soils. Draped in fragrant pink, pea-like blooms from mid to late spring, this shrub creates a vibrant and eye-catching display. Its emerald green deciduous foliage provides a striking contrast to the smooth bark and lime green branches, adding unique texture and dimension to the landscape.

Growing to about 4 feet tall and wide, Red Scotch Broom has a shapely, multi-stemmed form with gracefully arching branches that fill out right to the ground, reducing the need for facer plants in front. Known for its drought tolerance, it thrives in full sun and well-drained, clay or alkaline soils, making it ideal for xeriscaping or moisture-conserving landscapes. While requiring high maintenance, it’s resilient in urban environments and can live up to 20 years under ideal conditions. This shrub grows at a medium rate and is perfect for planting in areas where water is limited.

Each plant comes in a #1 (1 gallon) growers container. The image shown represents an example of what you may receive. Please note that the height, shape, and fullness of each plant may vary due to natural growth patterns. Rest assured, we will select the healthiest and most vibrant plant for you.
