Description
Lively Lilac Primrose is a hardy perennial that brings a spectacular burst of amethyst blooms to Massachusetts gardens in early spring. Growing up to 7 inches tall and a foot wide, this primrose features lush green rosettes of foliage that emerge in winter, followed by clusters of lilac-purple flowers with a delicate white eye. Thriving in average to slightly dry woodland soils, this variety is perfect for adding color to shaded borders, rock gardens, and woodland settings.
Adapted to Massachusetts' climate, Lively Lilac Primrose undergoes a brief semi-dormant period in midsummer before refreshing itself in early fall. Regular watering during dry spells helps maintain healthy growth, and dividing well-established clumps in the fall encourages vigorous blooming in the following spring. With its cold-hardiness and low-maintenance nature, this primrose is an excellent addition to any perennial garden, offering year-round interest and a dazzling spring display.
