Description

The Japanese Stewartia (Botanical Name: Stewartia Pseudocamelia) is an exceptional deciduous tree highly valued for its ornamental features throughout the seasons.

Thriving in various light conditions from full sun to full shade, this tree displays its stunning attributes in early summer when it bursts into bloom. With showy large white flowers adorned with orange centers.

With a mature height of around 40 feet and a width of 30 feet, the Japanese Stewartia makes for a magnificent accent tree in gardens or landscapes.

Its foliage, consisting of forest green leaves, transforms into a brilliant red hue in the fall, adding a splash of color to the autumn landscape.

One of its most notable features is its mottled bark. This bark boasts hues of cream, brown, and tan, creating a striking visual display, particularly in the winter months.

To thrive, the Japanese Stewartia requires regular watering and well-draining, moist soil with an acidic composition. Additionally, it benefits from protection against drying winds, as it is considered a rather sensitive plant.
