Description

Helleri Japanese Holly (Ilex crenata 'Helleri') is a compact, evergreen shrub prized for its dense, rounded form and refined foliage. Its tiny, glossy dark green leaves provide year-round visual interest, making it an ideal choice for foundation plantings, low hedges, or massing in formal garden designs. In mid-fall, female plants produce attractive black berries that persist through winter, adding seasonal appeal and drawing in birds. For fruit production, a male holly must be planted nearby.

This low-growing shrub takes well to pruning and thrives in rich, acidic, evenly moist soil. Though it requires only occasional maintenance, late winter pruning is recommended to maintain its tidy shape. Whether used in southern landscapes or cooler zone 6 areas, Helleri Japanese Holly is a versatile, bird-friendly choice that brings structure and elegance to any garden.

Each plant comes in a #3 (3 gallon) growers container. The image shown represents an example of what you may receive. Please note that the height, shape, and fullness of each plant may vary due to natural growth patterns. Rest assured, we will select the healthiest and most vibrant plant for you.
