Description

Bring year-round interest and native charm to your garden with Northern Bayberry (Myrica pensylvanica), a resilient deciduous shrub prized for its aromatic foliage and distinctive gray, waxy berries. Adaptable and low-maintenance, this North American native is a standout choice for naturalized plantings, massing, or as a unique specimen shrub.

Thriving in full to partial sun and tolerant of poor, sandy, or acidic soils, Northern Bayberry grows to 9 feet tall and 8 feet wide. It blooms in May and produces clusters of tiny, wax-covered berries that persist into winter—beloved by birds and historically used in candle making. Hardy in zones 3–8, it’s perfect for coastal landscapes, erosion control, and tough garden spots where few others will thrive.

Each plant comes in a #3 (3 gallon) growers container. The image shown represents an example of what you may receive. Please note that the height, shape, and fullness of each plant may vary due to natural growth patterns. Rest assured, we will select the healthiest and most vibrant plant for you.
