Description

American Ipecac is a resilient native perennial perfect for naturalized areas and woodland borders in Massachusetts. This herbaceous plant thrives in dry forests and rocky soils, especially those rich in diabase or greenstone. Its slender stems spread by rhizomes and support clusters of star-shaped white flowers—occasionally tinged with pink—blooming from May through June.

Ideal for well-drained clay-loam or rocky soils, American Ipecac performs well in both full sun and partial shade. Its attractive yellow to red fall foliage extends seasonal interest long after the blooms fade. American Ipecac is a low-maintenance native that supports biodiversity while adding understated charm to native and shade gardens.

Each plant comes in a 3 quart growers container. The image shown represents an example of what you may receive. Please note that the height, shape, and fullness of each plant may vary due to natural growth patterns. Rest assured, we will select the healthiest and most vibrant plant for you.

*This plant may not be in bloom at the time of purchase. Whether pre- or post-bloom, rest assured it’s healthy—just not at its showiest.
