Description

Botanical Interests' Luffa Seeds (Luffa aegyptiaca) offer a fun and practical addition to your garden with their unique 12″–24″ long gourds. These frost-sensitive annuals grow on vigorous vines that can reach over 20' in length, making them ideal for trellises or fences. The light green gourds, with their pale black stripes and thicker bottoms, grow into sponges perfect for scrubbing backs, dishes, or grills. In addition to their practical uses, luffas make great gifts and can be dried for craft projects. Be sure to sow them when soil temperatures exceed 60°F for the best results.

Use a sharp knife or pruners to cut stem leading to gourd, leaving 1″–3″ of stem for a handle.
