LOCAL DELIVERY POLICY
Service Area
We currently offer local delivery within Greater Boston/North Shore areas, and on Cape Cod. Orders outside of this region may not be eligible for local delivery, though other options may be available at checkout.
Delivery Times
Delivery dates are available within 1-3 days, this may be further out during peak seasons. Same-day delivery may be available on Florist items; please refer to the florist delivery locations page for details. Deliveries are made between 10 am to 5 pm.
Delivery Fees
Our local delivery fees are based on distance and order size. Please refer to our Delivery Locations & Minimums page for more details. Delivery fees are calculated at checkout and will be shown before order confirmation.
Delivery Instructions
Please provide any specific delivery instructions at checkout (e.g., a safe drop-off location). If no one is available to receive the delivery, our driver will leave it at your specified location unless stated otherwise. We are not liable for any items left unattended at the delivery location.
Order Changes & Cancellations
If you need to change or cancel your order, please contact us as soon as possible. We can adjust or cancel orders up to 24 hours before the scheduled delivery time. After this period, changes or cancellations may not be possible.
Missed Deliveries
In the event of a missed delivery, please contact us to reschedule. Additional delivery charges may apply for subsequent delivery attempts.

SHIPPING POLICY
Shipping Option/Rates
We currently offer Standard Shipping as our sole delivery option. Delivery costs are based on the size and number of plants in your order. Large plants (#2-#3 size) are $12.50 per plant, small plants (8″-#1 size) are $7.00 per plant. Shipping charges are calculated at checkout and displayed before purchase. Please note that we do not offer free shipping at this time.
Garden Drop Plants ship from a third party supplier who manages inventory and is responsible for shipping your products.
Processing Time
Orders are processed within 2-3 business days after payment confirmation. Orders placed on weekends or holidays will be processed on the next business day.
Delivery Time
Our Standard Shipping typically takes 3-5 business days once the order has shipped. Please keep in mind that these delivery times are estimates, and unexpected delays may occur.
Shipping Restrictions
- We do not ship to PO Boxes.
- We only ship within Massachusetts and do not ship out of state or internationally at this time.
- Shipping is available only on Garden Drop items.
- Orders are shipped on business days only (Monday through Friday, excluding holidays).
Order Tracking
After your order ships, you will receive an email with tracking information. Please allow up to 24 hours for the tracking details to update.
Damaged or Lost Packages
If your order arrives damaged or is lost during transit, please contact us within 48 hours of the delivery date. We will work with the carrier to address the issue and, if necessary, arrange for a replacement or refund.
Order Changes and Cancellations
If you need to change or cancel your order, please contact us within 2 hours of placing it. Once your order has begun processing, we cannot modify or cancel it.

OUR PLANT GUARANTEE
At Mahoney’s we are here to help you and your plants thrive! We guarantee that our plants are healthy when purchased, true to name, up to grade, and will survive with proper planting and care. Be sure to follow the instructions on our Planting Guide carefully to ensure your plants’ survival and success. If you should need to initiate our guarantee, please read below carefully.
All returns MUST be accompanied by a receipt or the purchase must be recorded under the purchaser’s Mahoney’s Rewards Account.
TREES + SHRUBS
Guaranteed 1 year from date of purchase. Store credit will be issued if a hardy tree or shrub planted properly in the ground fails within one year from the date of purchase.
ROSES + PERENNIALS
Guaranteed 90 days from date of purchase. Store credit will be issued if a hardy perennial planted properly in the ground fails within 90 days from the date of purchase.
ANNUALS, INDOOR PLANTS, SEEDS + BULBS
Guaranteed 30 days from date of purchase. Store credit will be issued if a properly cared for annual plant, indoor plant, seed, or bulb fails within 30 days from the date of purchase.
STEP 1
Our goal is to help you help your plant thrive! Don’t give up on your developing root system before sharing photos of the plant so we can help diagnose the problem. Before removing your plant from the ground, at the first sign of distress send photos to [email protected]
Please send the following photos:
- Close-up of the leaves or problem area.
- Medium distance that shows the growth habit.
- Full-length shot showing the base of the trunk and the plant in context.
STEP 2
Our plant care experts will evaluate the plant based on the photos. If the problem is treatable we will recommend the best course of action to help your plant thrive!
If the problem is not treatable we will process store credit for the full purchase price of the item if accompanied by a receipt or Rewards Account record.
STEP 3
A merchandise credit, not to exceed the purchase price, will be issued one time to the original purchaser of the plants which do not survive the guarantee period. You must have the plant(s), original register receipt(s), and a manager’s approval in order for a merchandise credit to be issued. Labor and delivery costs are not covered. This retail guarantee does not apply to commercial accounts or plants purchased by a third party.
Your Mahoney’s merchandise credit slip should be treated like cash, it cannot be replaced if lost or stolen. Merchandise credit may be used at any Mahoney’s location. You may try again with the same plant or choose a different plant. The replacement plant is not covered by our warranty.
RETURN POLICY
Plants + Hardgoods* may be returned in saleable condition within 30 days of the original purchase. *Hardgoods include non-plant products such as pottery, soils, and garden accessories.
Florist* + Farmstand items may be returned within 5 days or before sell-by date if the items are not meeting expectations. *Cut flowers should be given a fresh cut and placed in water within one (1) hour of purchase.
Plant material or merchandise being returned must be in new condition, not opened, and in saleable condition. A full refund will be made to the original form of payment. Returns made on a credit card may take up to a week to return to your account. All holiday items & clearance sales are final. Other exclusions may apply.
E-Gift/Gift Cards are redeemable for merchandise or services at Mahoney’s Garden Center. They are not redeemable or refundable for cash. Lost or stolen cards may not be replaced.
SOME FINE PRINT
We shall not be liable for plants that do not survive or are damaged due to improper planting or watering, incorrect plant protection, transportation, insects, branch die-back or breakage, improper garden placement, failure to blossom or other acts of nature, water bans, drought, winterkill, salt damage, and damage from extreme weather. We do not guarantee rooftop gardens, plants which have been put into containers or that have been left to overwinter in pots. Mahoney’s reserves the right to refuse a refund if we feel the plant is capable of recovering after proper care, some plants require a transition period and will return to full health after recovery. Plants marked down for clearance or on special are not covered by our guarantee policy. We do not guarantee plants purchased by our Wholesale Trade Customers.
