These vintage Shiwan mudmen, are traditional Chinese clay sculptures. Often hand painted and glazed, giving them their distant looks.
The older Shiwan mudmen however, have minimal colored glazing. Using the colored glaze solely for enhancing certain features, or characteristics of the mudmen, or what they were portraying.
It was only as this art moved through the ages that more color was added to the tiny sculptures.
