The “Jewel Orchids,” with their elegant leaves, are usually mistaken for just another pretty houseplant. They are grown for their foliage more than the flowers. The leaves of the “Ludisia Nigrescens” may look like a green velvet piece of cloth, delicately decorated with one vein down the center of the leaf giving the plant a darker appearance overall.

This easy-to-grow orchid is terrestrial, and grows in soil not bark. Allow soil to dry on the surface before watering again. Overwatering will cause roots to rot. Fertilize monthly with a diluted solution. Avoid direct sunlight.
